The CombiPlant Library is a model library for the simulation of combined cycle power plants and heat recovery steam generators. It uses the Standard Modelica Libraries Modelica.Media for the fluid properties and Modelica.Fluid for the connectors. CombiPlant possesses all components for the dynamic simulation of such cycles and can be used both for steady-state performance evaluation and dynamic control tasks.
The illustration below shows a superheater section composed from the standard heat exchanger components in CombiPlant. The controllers for the attemperators are included as local controllers. The model diagram shows the flow path of the flue gas and that both the high pressure and intermediate pressure superheaters are included.
The Modelica language and the openness of the Library make it straightforward to realize non-standard plants based on the library. The diagram on the right shows an overview of the top -level model of the Sargas plant. The Sargas power plant is considered as a concept to provide power for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Hammerfest, northern Norway. The power plant is included in a feasability and verification study conducted by the Norwegian company Sargas. The power plant is a combined cycle system consisting of a gas turbine with an external pressurized combustion chamber in combination with a traditional steam cycle. The conventional parts of the plant are modified from existing pressurized fluidized bed power systems. The cleaning of the flue gas and storage of the CO2 takes place at high pressure after the combustion chamber. This minimises the volume of flue gas to be purified relative to the amount of power produced, providing near full CO2 capture (up to 95 %) and substantial reduction of NOx.
