The AirConditioning Library™

Using the AirConditioning Library™ in Dymola allows you to optimize and verify the design of your air conditioning system from the early design phases through control design and implementation. The AirConditioning Library features an open, object-oriented architecture with access to the model source code in Modelica. Our unique advantage makes the AirConditioning Library the preferred solution for design engineers. The library models are based on several years of experience and validation in advanced research applications. A version of the library that has been adapted  and fine-tuned for the particular needs of automotive air conditioning is distributed via Dynasim AB,  a generic version  for all kinds  of refrigeration and air conditioning applications is available directly from Modelon.

Unique features

The models in AirConditioning are object-oriented, hierarchical models with user-readable source code that are open for easy modification an extension. The model complexity level can be adjusted by simple pull-down choices: Maximum fidelity from geometric parameters or simplified parameters for fitting to component data. User-defined models are seamlessly integrated with library components due to the open object-oriented structure. The library shares common interfaces with all standard Modelica libraries: it can be coupled with e.g. the PowerTrain Library™ for total vehicle power studies or the Blocks library for control design. AirConditioning interfaces conveniently with Simulink via Dymola's standard Simulink interface.

The AirConditioning Library is developed and maintained by Modelon. Dynasim is the distributor for automotive applications. Modelon also offers technical assistance, consulting services and training courses for the AirConditioning library.

Dymola and AirConditioning allow an arbitrary connection of the model components. This makes it easy to realize non-standard and innovative cycles.

Customization and add-on Modules

The AirConditioning Library is available in two versions: automotive and as customized version, e.g. for residential A/C and heat pumps. Properties for Cryogenic fluids (Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen up to very high pressures and in liquid and two-phase states) are available as an add-on option. Models for commercial refrigeration systems using CO2, Ammonia or conventional HFC working fluids are provided as consulting work based on an extensive library of refrigeration ystem components. Examples that have been modeled and simulated with the customized version of the AirConditioning Library are the cooldown process of a cryogenic transfer system and transport cooling.
